Carbon offsetting

In addition to its sustainable development policy, Groupe Leblanc is actively involved in a reforestation program which allows customers to offset the carbon footprint of their lighting project.

The reforestation program

In addition to raising awareness with its employees and the use of LED products, Leblanc Illuminations has launched a reforestation program developed by EcoAct. This program, introduced in 1996, is implemented in the Mediterranean forest Sainte Victoire near Aix-en-Provence in France and in the Mata Atlantica rainforest in Brazil, declared a "World Biosphere Reserve" by UNESCO.

A partnership with EcoAct

Based in Paris and Sao Paulo in Brazil, EcoAct operates on several levels to help achieve sustainable development through actions to preserve the environment or offset projects to reduce CO2 emissions. Created following the methodology of the Kyoto Protocol, reforestation projects are part of the program "Plant for the Planet" launched by UNEP (United Nations program for the environment).

EcoAct is committed to planting, the irrigation and monitoring for a period of 25 years. The originality and strength of EcoAct is a combination of ecology and social action. It gives its clients the opportunity, not only to offset the emissions of greenhouse gases but also to support associations concerned with employability.

Reforestation, an effective way to reduce the environmental impact of our energy consumption.

Trees can store carbon in forest ecosystems, thereby reducing the concentration of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. Reforestation respects the existing natural model and achieves the conservation of biodiversity and the preservation of endangered species. This initiative is synonymous with renewal activity and creation of sustainable jobs for the people.
